Before retiring as President of Metz & Associates, a legal and management consulting firm, he was CEO and general counsel of the national association representing importers and distributors of wines and spirits. Previously, he served on the staff of White House Counsel and the President’s Economic Policy Board. Previously, he was a partner in Booz, Allen and Hamilton, an international management consulting firm. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Colgate University in economics and political science. He pursued graduate studies at Harvard and Michigan Law Schools and holds a juris doctor degree from Wayne State University Law School where he edited its Law Review. He served as an Air Force Judge Advocate.
He has been active in industry and national associations, including the National Association of Wholesalers and the American Society of Association Executives.
In the San Diego area, his service includes the San Diego Regional and Coronado Chambers of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Coronado. He was president of the Coronado Cays Homeowners Association and the Coronado Unified School District board of trustees. His city service includes Coronado’s Cultural Arts Commission and Oversight Board for dissolution of its former community development agency. His state service includes chairing California’s Boating and Waterways Commission.
