Jornada 2025
Jornada—Spanish for “day’s journey”—is a binational initiative led by the Foundation for the Children of the Californias (FCC). This cross-border program unites medical specialists and volunteers from the United States and Mexico for an intensive day of service at the Hospital Infantil de las Californias (HIC).
Each Jornada brings together experts across multiple medical and rehabilitation disciplines — including surgery, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy—to provide children with comprehensive evaluations, treatments, and specialized care. Many patients also receive donated medical equipment and assistive devices, all free of charge.
By combining expertise, compassion, and community support from both sides of the border, the Jornada Program reflects FCC’s mission to expand access to life-changing healthcare for children with disabilities and complex medical needs. Your support makes this possible.

Rehabilitation Jornada
The Rehabilitation Jornada began in 2005, founded by San Diego pediatric physical therapist Ellen Norton in partnership with the Hospital Infantil de las Californias (HIC) and the Foundation for the Children of the Californias (FCC). What started as a small outreach has grown into a binational program uniting specialists, students, and volunteers from the U.S. and Mexico to provide an intensive day of therapy and care for children with disabilities.
Each Jornada brings together physical, occupational, and speech therapists, as well as translators and support volunteers, to offer evaluations, treatments, and donated adaptive equipment—free of charge.
The next Rehabilitation Jornada will take place on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with additional volunteer opportunities available in the days prior.
