This year marks the 25th anniversary of Foundation for the Children of the Californias (FCC), providing support to the Hospital Infantil de las Californias (HIC), the only nationally certified pediatric specialty hospital in all of Northern Baja Californias.
On Sunday, October 13 at The Prado at Balboa Park. We kicked off the night at this beautiful and historic venue with a silent auction, where there was be no shortage of fun and exciting opportunities. It was followed with a deliciously plated dinner and awards presentation. This year was very special and unique. The Founders, Legacy and Hero Awards were given to those recognized individuals who have gone above and beyond in supporting of the Foundation, in order to secure a brighter and healthier future for the children of the San Diego/Tijuana region.
Through your generosity at the 25th Anniversary Celebration’s “Raise the Paddle”, you helped raise over $110,000 for the Foundation for the Children of the Californias! Because of you, the Foundation can continue to help Hospital Infantil de las Californias with funds to provide life-changing medical care for all children of the San Diego/Tijuana region, regardless of their family’s inability to pay.
In 1994, Baja California was the only Mexican state bordering the United States without a medical specialty care center for children. Founders Dr. Elizabeth Jones and Dr. Gabriel Chong were among a group of concerned pediatric professionals along with civic, business and academic leaders from Mexico, Canada and the United States, who formed a tri-national effort and created the three nonprofit organizations to create a viable solution and address the need.
